Senior Guidance

College Preparation: Seniors that plan on attending college next fall should be doing the following:

  1. Choose a college.
  •  Research your options
  •  Compare your choices

   2. Fill out applications.

  • Apply to at least three colleges (don't forget to notify colleges of your final decision).
  • You can download most college applications or use the Texas Common Application. www.applytexas.org  
  • Along with application you will need to include the following:
    letters of recommendation (3), resume, scholarship or financial aid information, transcript, and test scores.

     3. Take or retake the

 SAT www.collegeboard.org

 ACT www.act.org

 and THEA www.thea.nesinc.org .

  • Check individual college(s) for requirements.

    4. Visit college campus.

  • Meet with an Admission Counselor.
  • Verify admission requirements.
  • Determine actual college costs and ask about financial aid.
  • Take a campus tour.
  • Investigate academic program(s).
  • Find out about housing.

    5. Apply for housing.

     6. Apply for financial aid.

  • Start gathering information now.
  • All student(s) going to college should fill out the FASFA in January.
  • Go to the FASFA web site and set up a pin www.fafsa.ed.gov

     7. Apply for Scholarships.

  • Start applying now.
